Social media queen Karen Civil is an inspiration to not just young adults trying to succeed in the music industry but she is an inspiration to any young adult trying to succeed period. Starting off as an assistant to DJ Funkmaster Flex, Karen went on to be the Social Media Coordinator for Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money label. In 2011 Karen was appointed Digital Marketing Manager at Beats By Dre headphone company.
Karen, like most people posted on this site are too smart, ambitious and talented to stay in one field. After blogging for sites such as Nah Right and Hip-Hop Game, Karen started her own site KarenCivil.com in 2008. FUN FACT: Karen’s first inteview was with Drake on his birthday inside a Starbucks. (According to BlackEnterprise.com KarenCivil.com receives about $125,000 in revenue. If that doesn’t get you excited about the possibilities in your own endeavors I don’t know what will.) Karen also added LivingCivil.com to her empire. LivingCivil.com is a site promoting a positive lifestyle through health, Karen’s career advice, positive thinking and more. Karen signed her first book deal last year as well as signing Mary J. Blige, Young Jeezy, Pusha T, Funkmaster Flex, and Juelz Santana to Always Civil Enterprise*.
Karen Civil has admitted to making mistakes in her BlackEnterprise.com inteview when it came to trusting the wrong people, having hate thrown at her and having lies told about her. What’s inspiring about Karen is that none of her energy goes into any of that. Karen is known for being the person who helps out anyone on her team or anyone she believes in. I hope more people find the power in being that way and embrace it.
